The Paul and Patricia Coates
Memorial Scholarship
The Paul and Patricia Coates Memorial Scholarship was established in honor and memory of Power Kids Owner, Michael Coates’ parents. The scholarship is funded by Power Kids Summer Enrichment Program. It covers full tuition for five weeks of a Power Kids summer experience (valued at $1,370).
Patricia and Paul married in 1955. Paul was a teacher, and Pat, a nurse. Together, they raised a family of seven children in Medford. They were best known for encouraging people to pursue their dreams and ambitions. Paul died of a rare disease called progressive supra-nuclear palsy in 2003. Ten years later, Pat died of colon cancer. Power Kids hopes to continue their legacy and help children during camp to mature socially, emotionally, intellectually, morally, and physically to realize their dreams and unlock their true potential.
